National Junior Judo Championships

We take great pleasure in inviting you as members and as judoka in judo, to the JFAUK Junior National Judo Championships organised for your participation. This year we are expanding our mat capacity due to growth of numbers. The Traditional rules of expectations in this event are proving very popular so don’t miss out book early.

Children £ 13.00 (under 16)

All spectators and officials attend free of charge.

Weighing in times:
Commencing at 9.15am     19kg -38kg
commencing at 10.00am   41kg+
Our aim is to allow candidates to have as many contest’s as possible. For this reason some particular weight categories may be amalgamated to make up numbers in a category.

A valid up to date JFAUK Licence will be required to enter the competition. Entrants by special invitation must produce a valid licence of their governing body showing proof of insurance. Please note that without a valid licence entrants will not be able to compete.  Licences must have a photo.

Gold, Silver, and two Bronzes will be awarded. A complimentary participation certificate of recognition  will be awarded to all competitors.

Entries on the day will not be permitted! (Sorry!)

The tournament has been organised for the benefit of the JFAUK judoka, our Associates and friends from clubs and organisations who truly share the enthusiasm and motivation in supporting each other to uphold the values and standards of Traditional Kodokan judo. It is our hope that all who participate will have an enjoyable and memorable day. Good luck to you all and we look forward to your participation

  • Waza-ari and Ippon only score;
  • One Referee only;
  • Judoka areto compete in an upright judo;
  • 30 second hold down, Ippon; 25 second, Wazari;
  • Armlocks and strangles valid to all children 14 years and above;
  • Any judoka, who is found to wear a judogi with the lapel being of thickness which will inhibit judo, and its purpose for competition, will not be allowed to compete;
  • Any drop Seoi-nage on both legs will notpermitted;
  • Sacrifice techniques will be permitted in all categories;
  • All Contestants to wear only an all white, clean judogi; (No Blue Judogi)
  • Judo suits with a manufactures logo will be permitted;
  • Only two badges will be permitted on the Judogi;
  • Please note there are no separate Primary weight categories;
  • Contestants are required to hold within thre seconds of commencement of the contest;
  • The area of the contest shall be the whole mat area;
  • Please note there are no seperate Primary weight categories - the competition will be run by weight and not age;
  • There will be no golden score.

  • 19-kg and under,
  • 22kg and under,
  • 25Kg and under
  • 28kg and under,
  • 31kg and under,
  • 35kg and under,
  • 38kg and under,
  • 41Kg and under
  • 44kg and under,
  • 48Kg and under
  • 51kg and under,
  • 55kg and under,
  • 58kg and under;
  • 61Kg and under
  • 65kg and under and over 65kg

Children are only allowed to enter one category; there are no open categories for juniors.

Please note that any junior holding a senior grade will still be allowed to participate at junior level, as long as they are under 16yrs of age.
